Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Student Development, Events and Sports Affairs Directorate organized an “Outdoor Classroom Day” event at Şehit Osman Ahmet Primary School. Within the scope of the event, many activities were carried out at 8 different activity stations set up in the school garden between 09:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

The event was organized by student clubs operating under the directorate – Children’s Rights Club, Chess Club, Fine Arts Club, Tourism Club, Yoga Club, Literature Club, Flag Football Club, Visual Communication Design Club and ultrAslan Uni Eastern Mediterranean – with the contributions of EMU Sports Services Office.

Alongside workshops including banner painting, chess training, dance, bookmark crafting, the “Discovering Countries” activity, yoga, handicrafts, and painting, students took part in sports sessions such as volleyball, basketball, and flag football led by professional instructors, as well as various competitions, allowing them to both have fun and learn. Food and beverages were provided to students throughout the event.

Making remarks on the event, the EMU Student Development, Events and Sports Affairs Directorate emphasized that through the community-oriented activities of student clubs, the University’s strong sense of social responsibility was clearly demonstrated. Stressing the importance of such events carried out with the awareness that children are our future, the Directorate noted that student clubs engage not only within the campus but also closely with the community, bringing students and children together and fostering the values of sharing, solidarity, and volunteerism among both groups.

It was also underscored that such initiatives play a crucial role in strengthening university–community integration, and that student clubs will continue to take an active role through activities that touch the lives of children and place social benefit at the center.

At the conclusion of the event, İlkay Karcı Dereboylu, Principal of the Şehit Osman Ahmet Primary School, presented event coordinator and EMU academic staff Zehra Nalbantoğlu a certificate of appreciation and a bouquet.
