EMU Graduate Yunus Olgar Joins Eczacıbaşı Sports Club

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Health Sciences, Exercise and Sports Sciences Department graduate Yunus Olgar has begun serving as an assistant coach within the youth categories of Eczacıbaşı Sports Club as of 2025-2026 season. Olgar, who began his sports career in volleyball, has made significant progress in the field of coaching through the on-court experience he gained in a short period of time and his disciplined approach to training.

Olgar, who began playing volleyball in 2019, started his coaching career in 2021 at the Merve Çelebi Volleyball Academy (MCVA). While continuing his role at the academy, he coached the Atatürk Teacher Academy Women’s Volleyball Team in the University League for two years. In his first season, he drew attention by leading the team to the final against the Eastern Mediterranean University Women’s Volleyball Team.

In summer season of 2024, Olgar got the opportunity to do an internship at Eczacıbaşı Sports Club – on of the most prestigious sports clubs in Türkiye. Olgar noted that throughout this period he had the opportunity to closely observe the structure of professional sports organizations, training planning and internal club communication models. He emphasized that the experience he gained, particularly in youth development systems, contributed significantly to shaping his coaching vision.

In 2025, Olgar graduated from EMU Exercise and Sports Sciences Department as the top-ranking student. He demonstrated an active profile both in academics and social fields during his undergraduate study. Olgar stated that EMU’s research-oriented academic environment, which encourages critical thinking and prepares its students for professional life in a conscious and informed manner, played a decisive role in his professional development.

Olgar stated that his goal is to support the technical, tactical and mental development of young athletes, adding that he aims to continuously improve himself by applying the knowledge and experience he gains from the technical staff he works with. Combining the academic knowledge he acquired at EMU with his field experience, Olgar emphasized that he will continue his efforts to contribute to Turkish volleyball.
