Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Architecture, Department of Interior Architecture paid a visit to the Chamber of Interior Architects (ICMO) operating under the Union of the Chamber of Cyprus Turkish Engineers and Architects (KTMMOB).

The collaboration initiatives initiated by former Head of the Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Afet Coşkun and EMU Interior Architecture Department faculty member and Accreditation Committee Advisor Prof. Dr. Özlem Olgaç Türker were revisited by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hacer Başarır Dindiç, who took office as Head of the Department in the 2025–2026 Spring Semester. The discussions aimed both to introduce the new departmental leadership and to further develop existing collaborations. EMU Interior Architecture Department faculty member Assist. Prof. Dr. Eliz Erdenizci also attended the meeting.

The president of ICMO Pembe Komut and Executive Board Members Sabri Tonyalı and İsman Birman were present during the said meeting. Making an address during the visit, ICMO President Pembe Komut underlined the value of chamber membership for aspiring interior architects as a means to gain a deeper understanding of the profession. She stated that early engagement between students and the professional chamber would greatly contribute to the development of professional identity and awareness. Komut also pointed out the crucial role universities play in guiding students in this regard.

On the other hand, Head of EMU Department of Interior Architecture Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hacer Başarır Dindiç emphasized that joint projects to be developed with the Chamber are highly important in improving the quality of interior architecture education and supporting professional standards. She stated that the mutual cooperation protocols to be established aim to equip students more effectively for their future careers and to reinforce their links with the professional sector.

The visit concluded with mutual expressions of goodwill, while the parties exchanged views on potential joint activities and projects aimed at supporting professional development in the future.
